The ceremony took place on Saturday, 15th November 2025, during the regional community meeting at Rene’s Services in Lashibi, Tema.

The awards, introduced for the first time this year, sought to motivate and appreciate individuals who have demonstrated commitment, creativity, and leadership in home gardening. Nominations were opened to members of the Home Gardening Ghana Facebook community, who voted to select winners across several categories.

The 2025 Gardener’s Choice Award winners are:

  • Best Female Gardener – Bettey Sowatei
  • Best Kid Gardener – Kelby Morgan
  • Best Collaborative/Supportive Gardener – Mrs. Irene Prah
  • Most Promising Gardener – Mrs. Kate Baffour
  • Inspirational/Motivational Gardener – Mr. Paul Kwesi Ahiakpor
  • Most Innovative Gardener – Ofebea Ofei-Nkansah

Mr. Ahiakpor earned two recognitions, reflecting his influence and dedication within the gardening community.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Frank Kwekucher Ackah, Executive Director of Garden For All and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Crop Science, University of Cape Coast, congratulated the awardees and emphasized the purpose of the initiative. He noted that the awards are designed to encourage excellence and inspire more households to embrace gardening as a means of achieving food security and healthier living.

Dr. Ackah commended the vibrant online gardening community for actively participating in the nomination process and supporting one another’s growth. He urged gardeners across the country to continue cultivating their skills and contributing to greener, more sustainable communities.

The ceremony also created an opportunity for networking, experience sharing, and strengthening community bonds. G4A plans to make the Gardener’s Choice Awards an annual event as part of its broader mission to promote home gardening nationwide.
